Physical distractions have a negative effect on your ability to engage at work because they disrupt your focus and concentration. To be fully engaged in any task requires a certain amount of concentration. If this concentration is broken then it's impossible to fully engage and achieve a state of flow. Therefore the next time you are at work make a conscious effort to remove, limit, or prevent physical distractions from affecting your ability to concentrate. Examples of physical distractions include; smartphones, colleagues who are distracting, bodily needs such as food, water, and rest, physical pains or symptoms, poor equipment, or poor working conditions.
